My new 3-D micro blading and dusting technique for eyebrows!!!
No more cookie-cutter brows!!
As I been perfecting and creating my own signature technique and effects with micro-blading eyebrows, the one thing that attracted me to micro blading technique in the first place was how crisp and realistic the eyebrow hair simulation was! Since starting permanent makeup in 1992, I’ve always tried to simulate a natural hair stroke even with my original coil tattoo machine! (Which is all we had at the time) That “stamped on” tattooed look never made sense to me. I used flat needles and single needles at the time to try to make eyebrow hairs that looked as natural as possible. Even over the years as our devises for implanting pigment became more refined and our needles (our “paint brushes”) became more designed for the permanent makeup artist with the addition of slope needles. These well designed needles actually look like the micro blades and do create beautiful hairs in the skin, but because of the machines natural vibration, the crispness is just not there like it is with the micro blade hand method especially in the lighter blonde and taupe shades.
The one thing that’s been driving me crazy is the fact that even though the hairs look so real, they can look sparse like you’d still have to fill in with your own makeup! Especially if someone did not have there own hair evenly dispersed; it was hard to mimic density so it looked uniformed. I found myself using my machine and different needle configurations to blend in for a softer result. As an artist who is always trying to “figure” it out and personally wants to create the most natural, beautiful brow, I’m always on a mission to find a solution! It is definitely not one where you can tell where every brow hair starts and ends, or where the end of the brow looks like a fish tail and my least favorite, hairs that look like train track…yikes!!!
Although, many people both consumer and permanent makeup artists may think using the hand tools are new, they have been around way before our machines! In the 90’s I use to use the “soft tap” hand method which created a beautiful powdery effect in brows, eyeliner and lips! That’s where I had my “light-bulb” moment!!! The blend would be my answer for creating the perfect brow….feather-like hairs and a soft dusting to create a powdery effect in between the defined hair strokes!!! Upon my search, other leaders in my industry have discovered the same thing for themselves and with these wonderful new shading tools, I’m now getting the best result!!!
Because every client is so different (just like our fingerprint) I customize the entire process! There is never a “cookie cutter” way to approach a client and sometimes I’m even using multiple colors and hand tools to create the perfect brow. Age, health, skin texture, existing hair, lifestyle, undertones, ethnicity, coloring, bone structure and Client’s desires all dictate my choices for creating the perfect, “feather dusted” and shaped brow!!!
